Holy Friday

The Passion is read once more at Holy Friday Vespers.
The winding-sheet is taken to the Tomb.
"The Noble Joseph, when he had taken down Your body"
"...wrapped it in fine linen and anointed it with spices
"...and placed it in a new tomb..."
The Lamentations are read at Matins.
The procession with the winding-sheet takes form.
The icon of Christ is taken into the "darkness" of the world.
The darkness and tomb cannot contain the Savior.
"Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal..."
"...have mercy on us!"
The winding-sheet is returned to the church and tomb.
